The president of the New Zealand Society of Actuaries and former appointed actuary at Vero, Richard Beauchamp, has revealed his delight at his recent new appointment with consulting firm Deloitte.

With 20 years’ of experience in corporate roles in general insurance working in both the UK and New Zealand markets, Beauchamp has joined Deloitte New Zealand as partner, actuarial services.

“I’m delighted to have joined this great firm and am looking forward to being part of the team as we help our clients meet their aspirations,” Beauchamp said.

Previous to his five years at Vero, Beauchamp help posts at AMI, Lloyd’s managing agency Brockbank Underwriting Ltd, TSB General Insurance and National Mutual Life.

In 2014, he co-authored a paper entitled Climate Change: how the world’s greatest risk will impact New Zealand.

The paper included a survey of NZSA members which revealed 59% of them said they believed climate change was happening and that humans were largely the cause.

Beauchamp will now be working with Deloitte’s global network to advise on customer analytics, product design and pricing, liability valuation, capital and regulatory matters.

He said: “My focus now is helping insurers and other businesses to understand and provide their customers’ needs, achieve their strategic goals, and remain financially sound in the long run.”
