A former Liverpool goalkeeper has been forced to settle the confusion over his post-football career despite years of racy rumours making him the stuff of legend amongst Liverpool fans.

Anfield folklore has it that former goalie Pegguy Arphexad took off his goalkeeper gloves, and everything else, to become a star of adult movies.

Frenchman Arphexad was signed to Liverpool from Leicester City in 2000 but only made two appearances in a three year spell at Anfield.

While he failed to make a big impression on the field, stories abounded that Arphexad had made it big as a porn star going by the stage name The Stopper.

Fans believed that Arphexad returned to his home country of Guadeloupe to pursue a career as an actor but when he failed to break into TV and film legend has it that the 42-year-old entered the world of hardcore porn instead.

The story continues to spread among football fans and regularly appears on Twitter, the Daily Mirror reported.

However, the rumours have finally been quelled by the man himself after being interviewed by his former local paper, The Leicester Mercury.

“Look, this is a bad rumour. It’s been going round a long time,” he told a reporter.

“One English guy wrote on the internet years and years ago that I was doing this and now people say to me: ‘Hey, are you making porn films?’

“I haven’t made any porn films, okay. I don’t do that. I work for a sport insurance company. That’s what I do.

“Put it in your paper – I don’t do porn films, just insurance, okay?”

Porn star or insurance broker – well, they say insurance brokers are premium lovers so perhaps that could explain how these careers became confused with one another?
